10 Little Monkeys

10 little mOnkeys

thinking how to teach 10 little monkeys song
especially in toddlers:
well here are some other tips.

We all know that toddlers have a lot of energy.
yeah the first time I taught lesson it gone crazy, disaster.
it's really hard to get their attention
and ask them to sit for 30-40mins.
And sometimes we didn't realize that a lot of time is wasted
just to remind them not to run during the lesson, dont fight, not pushing etc…

As a teacher, I want them to participate.
I want them to enjoy. I want them to learn.
and I need to put that in their  ears a million times!
That is why...
I started to make some props in teaching.
And it really works.

You will need:
1. White Board
2. Laminated Monkeys
3. Magnetic numbers
Convince them to count with you.

Show them all the numbers.

Ask them how many monkeys do you have?

then put it on the whiteboard one by one... until you complete all the monkeys.
Now you are ready
We sing it like this:
10 little monkeys jumping on the bed
one fell off and bumped his head
(kid's name) call the doctor and (while getting one monkey that fell off)
the doctor said
No more monkeys jumping on the bed.
And so on.
Enjoy your lesson. (:

Teaching Vocabulary

Another tips in teaching new vocabulary
especially in young learners.
Kids like guessing games.
So in this lesson they are having fun while learning new vocabs words.

First I showed them this pic.
And all of them asking me what is that?

Second I introduced new vocabs words and give
each kid a card.

Third I asked them to put it on the right places..
while asking what's that?

Jaraaannnnn!!!
It's finished! well done!
they are all happy..
and Everyone is very cooperative, think they are all excited
of what will happen next. :D
and then we sang "skidamarink song"

Enjoy your lesson.
Have fun!

Dealing with Toddlers

2yr old Education
*If we encounter some trouble or accident, the first thing we need to do is keep them calm.

2. As for the toys...
We often have/encounter a lot of problems
during playtime,This is also a suggestion from others teacher to add more toys such as faddy toys, kamen rider and the like.
and another experience is when a child sees that his or her friends are happy while playing with their toys, the child suddenly wants to have those toys too… but upon discovering that they don't know how to play it, putting it down and leave it unsatisfied, therefore, we came up with a solution to demonstrate how to play with the toys and try to convince them that the toys are enjoyable to play with and that whichever toy they choose(pick/decide to play with) will give them much fun as any other toy available.

2yr old first half.
Activity for this age group  : Using Hands
1. we make hands-on like playing with strings and making necklace using recycled material like straw involving the children for them to learn.
2. Open and shut the bottle cup.
3. Pinching - Clothespin
4. A pair of Scissors - Just one cut

* Moving
This age group have too much energy that is why they need to move a lot.
e.g. running, jumping, turn around..

*Role-playing
E.G. House Play
*they pretend like  a mom…
sometimes they pretend like Anpanman, ultraman and some other characters.

2yr old Second half
*sorting
Eg. they like sorting animals toys, blocks, lego
like same colors, same forms
*they also like to put it in line, they do not want it to appear curved, they want to line them up perfectly straight.
*Puzzle

2yr old
they move a lot, they run, jump…

In line with the Teacher's Care, we have to make sure that all of the children are safe and as much as possible zero accident.
What we do as preventive measure are as follows:
1.if they got sweat we wipe it at once,
2.we give them frequent break and
3,give them drinks so as to replenish the water in their body to avoid dehydration.

How to nurture the kids and enhancing their capabilities:
1. interact with them while playing and we and stay connected
2. we are also exposing them to the nature by using flowers, rain, sand etc as our play items.

Self desire
There are times that the kids cry to get our attention but others cry because they cannot communicate (speak/talk) well. This is all part of growing up. So on our part, as a teacher, we need to speak (talk) to them very calmly and nicely. We also need to interact with them as much as possible.

*Both Mind
If two kids are fighting.

Do not just reprimand one kid and favor the other...

You have to talk to both of them in a manner that they can understand.

Then let them know the importance of sharing toys with friends to prevent trouble. If they are going to share their toys they can win  friends. Otherwise if they are not going to share their toys a fight could happen.

*We need to build their confidence. It is very essential part of their learning experience.

3yrs old
*They can do basic exercise
*Able to speak

they are growing and changing fast, so we should be synchronized when it  comes to their learning capabilities by teaching them very well and making research to level up the knowledge that we would impart to them.

Potty Training:
1. We have to guide them step by step by showing them what they should do from the first thing until they finished, saying the instructions gently for them to be easily copy the training and do it without worrying.
If they pee in their pants, talk to them nicely and say, "If you want to pee, please say it or go to the toilet., kondo ganbare ne,

*Do not shout nor use high pitch tone.

*There is a difficult learning stages that they are undergoing like dressing up and taking it off. In this case, we don't help them actually when putting on and off their shirt, pants or jacket but we guide them how they can make it by themselves.

*we need to value their feelings that they want to do it by themselves… so a little help is fine.

*FOODS
Some of them have big appetite, and some of them have poor appetite.
Some kids eat only what they want.
We have to create an atmosphere where all of them can enjoy their meal.

*They must learn to interact with some kid, this is important.
E.G. he wants to join a soccer team because of his low self-esteem. He cannot express himself easily because he used to play alone.

Teacher's Care :
Let the teacher play with the kids using toys.
Let us play with the kids using toys.

*Make an interesting environment
*Give them a satisfaction to their curiosity
*Make an interesting environment where they can do something worth fulfilling to their curious minds.
For example: He is curious about scissors, grab a table and chair, teach them how to use a pair of scissors
(and yes make sure that they are safe)
Role-playing
*create an environment that fits the role they are playing for example: supermarket etc

*When a kid wants to borrow a toy from his friend, teach him to say, "Can I borrow your... please?
And also educate him that when he wants a toy, it is not always his turn to play with the toy when somebody else is playing with it. Tell him to wait for his turn.

*they always ask why?

*give them brief and concise answer

for example: the children (kids) are running around inside the classroom, if they do this what are the possible things that may happen...
1) the kids might run into a desk, cabinet or other furniture inside the room;
2) they can bump into each other and or other children;
3)they can trip and fall down.
All these examples may cause an accident or serious injury.

*when we talk to them, they understand some of the things we say but not all. However,
* when we are telling a story with picture books, they are happy. This means that they like storybooks with images/pictures...

*When the child (kid) is talking to us or telling us something, we need to listen. We need to be considerate of their feelings and that they want to speak (talk).
*E.G. (For example) Even if they are just saying (uttering) AAA or EEE... We need to pay attention and give a response even just an Ah! Really?! Yes, because they are trying their best to speak and if we do not listen to what they are saying. They will stop trying to the point where they would not want to speak anymore.

*As teachers, we need to be careful of what we say (what words we use) around the children (kids) because they pick up words very quick especially bad words. We shouldn't use inappropriate words because they will copy (mimic/imitate) us.

*give them pictures book
*Hand play (Teasobi)
